Jamie Carie Biography

Born and raised in the small, historical town of Vincennes, Indiana, Jamie is the oldest of five children. When she was six, her parents accepted Christ as their Savior, which changed everything. Excited about Jesus, her dad decided to take a giant leap of faith, quit his welding job and start a church.

Some of her favorite memories are the road trips she used to take with her dad, driving to home Bible studies across southern Indiana where Jim would preach. After a night of teaching and ministry, they would drive home and talk of things beyond earth’s bounds - creation and the fall, God and Jesus and the rapture, the earthly walk compared to the spiritual walk, and how we are born for more than what we can see or touch. The highlight of those nights was stopping at a truck stop where her dad would spend a little of the offering basket on two slices of pie and a couple of Cokes. Nothing ever felt so special as a middle of the night slice of pie with her dad.

As Jamie grew closer to God and developed her own relationship with Him, she discovered a heart welling with songs and poetry. In high school, she sang in a band with her brother and their friends, writing most of the band’s lyrics. Music has become a life-long passion for Jamie, something she believes is one of the most inspiring and powerful gifts God has given us.

After college, Jamie married, had a brief stint as an office manager and then, after having two sons, decided it was more fun to stay at home with her boys. She homeschooled for five years, joining a wonderful group of families in a supportive co-op. Teaching in the co-op opened new avenues of creativity and Jamie began writing skits, poems and articles for her school and church. When her oldest son turned five, she began to write in earnest.

She had been reading romance novels for years when she felt the Lord’s desire for her to loosen her grip. She tried reading Christian romance novels, but found that she couldn’t relate to the saintly characters, so she decided to write a story of her own - a story she wanted to read, a story she could relate to, a story about God’s redeeming love.

Her first novel was awful. The meandering plot was little more than scenes from her favorite novels strung together like mismatched beads on a necklace. But she learned in that effort and was happy to relegate it to the hard drive and try again.

Snow Angel was born on a frosty night in an old farmhouse in Fishers, Indiana, where the cold floor gave plenty of motivation for the snow scene. Jamie loves to write late at night when the house is quiet and the darkness beckons her imagination. Since her three sons have now entered school (a third son was born in 1999) Jamie writes during the day too, pursuing her passion of communicating God’s great love for His creation through stories.

Tony and Jamie have been married for twenty years. Together they enjoy gardening and landscaping, trying new restaurants, adventures with their sons, and talking about everything. Separately, while Tony is at his computer, Jamie enjoys reading (of course), movies, listening to all kinds of music, art, working out, women’s Bible studies, and shoe shopping. But most of all, she wants to become the created woman God intended her to be and to encourage others to live their dreams. You can read more at www.jamiecarie.com.
